How Calkku holds your decorated days.

1. What we collect

1.1 Information you create in the app

• Calendar events — titles, times, dates, places, categories, reminders, and recurrence rules you enter or that you import from Apple Calendar.
• Decorations — stickers, handwritten-style memos, stamps, polaroid photos, washi-tape spans, and PencilKit drawings you add to each day.
• Photos you attach — images you pick via the system Photos picker. We save them to your App Group container (on-device) and, if iCloud Drive is enabled, mirror them to your iCloud ubiquity container.
• Category preferences — your customized category names, colors, and icons.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Device identifiers — none. We do not assign any identifier to your install.
• Diagnostic data — Apple’s crash reports, only if you opted in through iOS Settings. We do not run any third-party crash SDK.
• Analytics — none. We do not embed any analytics SDK.

1.3 What we do not collect

• No account. Calkku does not require sign-in. There is no user profile on our servers — because there are no servers.
• No location, no contacts, no microphone, no HealthKit.
• No advertising SDKs and no cross-app tracking.
• We do not access your photo library beyond the images you explicitly hand to the Photos picker.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell or rent your data. We do not use your events, decorations, photos, or drawings to train any AI model. Calkku does not call any AI service in current builds.

3. Where your data lives

• Primary storage: App Group container on your device. JSON files per month, plus a calkku-photos/ folder for attached images. These never leave your device unless iCloud Drive is enabled.
• iCloud mirror (optional): if iCloud Drive is on, Calkku mirrors the same month JSON files to your private iCloud ubiquity container (iCloud.app.codeful.bullet-journal). Only your iCloud account can read it. We do not have a server-side mirror.
• Widget snapshot: a tiny JSON describing today’s events is written to the App Group so the widget process can render without re-opening the app.
• Apple Calendar events: imported events are stored in Calkku with a stable external ID so re-imports don’t duplicate. Calkku does not write back to Apple Calendar.

4. Third-party services

Calkku uses only Apple-provided system services. No third-party SDKs are bundled.

5. How long we keep your data

• On-device data — kept until you delete the app or each item. Uninstalling Calkku removes the App Group container and all local data.
• iCloud mirror — kept as long as iCloud Drive is enabled and Calkku is installed on at least one of your devices. Apple controls retention of the underlying iCloud private database.
• Diagnostic data — handled by Apple per its own policy. We do not store crash reports server-side.
• Subscription receipts — held by Apple. Calkku checks entitlement on demand and does not persist receipts to our infrastructure.

6. Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Export your data — More menu → Export Data produces a JSON file you can share via the system share sheet.
• Delete any event, decoration, photo, or drawing — through the standard edit/delete affordances in the app.
• Delete everything — uninstall Calkku and, if iCloud is enabled, delete the iCloud.app.codeful.bullet-journal container in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
• Revoke EventKit access — iOS Settings → Calkku → Calendars. Future imports will be blocked; previously-imported events stay in your Calkku data until you delete them.

EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR. California residents have CCPA rights to know, delete, correct, and limit the sharing of personal information. Since Calkku does not run a server-side account, most of these rights are exercised directly inside the app — no request to us required.

7. Children

Calkku is rated 4+ and is appropriate for all ages, but we are not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in EU). We do not knowingly collect data from children — and because Calkku has no server, we do not collect data from anyone server-side. If you believe a child should not be using the app, contact the parent or guardian who manages the device.

8. International transfers

Calkku does not transmit data to our infrastructure, because there is none. Your data stays on your device and (optionally) in your Apple iCloud account. Apple operates iCloud across multiple regions; their transfer mechanism applies, not ours.

9. Security

On-device data is protected by iOS data protection (encrypted at rest while the device is locked). iCloud transfers are encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. No system is perfect — keep your device’s passcode strong and iCloud account secured with two-factor authentication. If you suspect a problem with the app, please contact us.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes are announced inside the app and at this URL at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Effective date" at the top reflects the version currently in force.
